Submissions

A Quick Pause While We Catch Up

Thank you for trusting us with your work. We’ve received more submissions than usual and, because every manuscript deserves a careful read, we’re taking a short pause on new submissions. We expect to reopen once we’ve thoughtfully reviewed the current batch. Please check back soon. If you’ve already submitted, you’re all set in our queue.

In the meantime, here are some answers to some common questions we get:

Are you accepting submissions right now?

Not at the moment—we’re temporarily paused due to a recent surge. We’re catching up so we can read every manuscript with care.

When will you reopen submissions?

As soon as we’ve worked through the backlog. Please check back here for updates—we’ll reopen!

I already submitted my book. Is there anything I need to do?

You’re in the queue; no action needed.

Do you accept books that do not have LGBTQ+ plots or themes?

The books we publish are dedicated to stories that center LGBTQ+ lives and readers. If your work doesn’t meaningfully engage with LGBTQ+ characters, themes, or communities, it’s not the right fit for us.

Do you accept manuscripts from authors who are not LGBTQ+?

We love our allies, truly. That said, Rattling Good Yarns Press was created to serve LGBTQ+ authors. At this time, we only consider manuscripts from writers who identify as LGBTQ+.

I’ve submitted my manuscript to other publishers and am waiting to hear back. Can I also submit to you?

Please wait to query us until your manuscript is no longer under consideration elsewhere. This helps us use our limited reading time fairly and give each project our full attention.

I’ve already self-published my book—will you consider it for your imprint?

We’re cheering you on, but we don’t accept previously self-published titles. We follow our own editorial and production standards from the ground up, and a book that’s already out has largely used its initial marketing runway. We also want to avoid situations where a new edition competes with an existing one.
